Twin Cities Judo Club, founded in 1975, continues the tradition founded by Dr. Kano of building young athletes into responsible, caring members of our comunity. Emphasis is placed on safety, self-discipline, and respect for others. Twin Cities Judo Club offers training in Judo, Jujitsu, and self-defense. The Club is a Federal and State Registered Non-Profit Corporation. Our goal is to provide a quality program at the lowest possible cost. Monthly donations by participants are tax deductible. The Judo Club currently operates on a "no contract" basis. All classes are taught by nationally certified blackbelt instructors.

Judo is a very versatile martial art, an Olympic sport, and a discipline. Judo was founded in 1882 by Dr. Jigoro Kano. The art represents a combination of Jujitsu and wrestling. It incorporates throwing skills, grappling, and ground fighting skills, controlling techniques, and choking techniques.

The goals of Judo are maximum efficiency of the mind and body, as well as, mutual welfare and benefit of others. Students and competitors learn how to make the most effective use of their mental and physical energy. They work together and help each other develop skills. With this concept, Judo provides a method to improve oneself physically, mentally, and socially. Judo training can improve an individual's confidence, speed, power, strength, agility, and flexibility. It is a great activity for men and women, boys and girls of all ages.

Jujitsu training incorporates all the benefits of the Judo program, but is oriented for self-defense applications and includes many skills not used in Judo.

Students are required to be courteous to others, demostrate integrity and self-control, respect instructors and other students, and strive for excellence.
